Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at 0800am. Drive to Tarangire National Park (2,850 sq km) for the game drive. Our destination to valleys of large seasonal white sand river, with fig trees, baobabs and tamarinds trees lining its banks, where narrow deep holes have been dug by elephants. Searching for subterranean water, and where we find our picnic lunch, set up under the shade of a nearby tree. Herds of 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams during the dry season, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem a smorgasbord for predators, and the one place in Tanzania where dry country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx are regularly observed. More ardent bird-lovers might keep an eye open for screeching flock of the dazzlingly colorful yellow-collared lovebird. Dinner and Overnight at Twiga Campsite. Meal Plan: {L, D}.

Day 2: Twiga Campsite - Lake Manyara National Park - Twiga Campsite

Breakfast at 0600am. Drive into Lake Manyara National Park (330 sq km) on the base of the Great Rift Valley, for a full day game drive. Stretching for 50 km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-meter high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bush buck tread warily through the shadows, and out sized forest horn bills honk cacophonous in the high canopy. Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life. In this park canoeing has recently been added to the tourist activities in this park at extra cost. This is a great way to see the park from a new perspective. Dinner Overnight at Twiga Campsite. Meal Plan: {B, L, D}.

Our bicycle rides are designed to give you both a wildlife and cultural experience. Breakfast at 0900am. Drive with your Packed Lunch to Serengeti National Park (14,763 sq km) for a game drive via Ngorongoro Crater rim. Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa. The spectacle of predator versus prey dominate Serengeti National Park a home to lion, leopard, Elephant, Cheetah, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Wild dog, Gazelles, Crocs and more. Lot of birds includes the Eurasia migrants. Dinner and Overnight at Lobo Campsite. Meal Plan: {B, L, D}.

Day 4: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Very early morning game drive. Breakfast at the campsite around 0900am. Continues with both morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti national Park. As enduring as the game-viewing is the liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sun burnt Savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. Yet, after the rains, this golden expanse of grass is transformed into an endless green carpet flecked with wildflowers. There are also wooded hills and towering termite mounds, rivers lined with fig trees and acacia woodland stained orange by dust. Popular the Serengeti might be, but it remains so vast that you may be the only human audience when a pride of lions masterminds a siege, focused unswerving on its next meal. In October and November they travel from the mountains of the north, southwards to the plains seeking lush pastures. Dinner and Overnight at Lobo Campsite. Meal Plan: {B, L, D}.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, Ngorongoro supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.
